Hokkaido did not always offer us its best weather, as it was quite windy, rainy and cold on two of the five days we spent there. Nevertheless, it makes me feel cozy, when I think back to our first Hokkaido trip that happened about two weeks ago. We spent a very relaxing time in and around Biei, Furano and Asahikawa, right in the middle of Japan’s largest and northernmost prefecture of Japan, and enjoyed the many flowers, fresh air and delicious food (vegetables!) there. I also had an encounter with the cutest squirrel and saw one of the most breathtaking sunsets so far, there, which is why you can find them in my photo top 3 below 😉
I will write more about Hokkaido and why I liked it so much, soon, but for now, here are just my picturesque highlights:
1. Colorful flower patterns in Biei:

2. An Ezo-shima-risu (エゾシマリス) – squirrel at Mt. Asahidake (the highest peak in Hokkaido at 2,291m):

3. Sunset in Furano:

What season did you go in? Furano is so gorgeous!

I went in the middle of September, right before the start of autumn in Hokkaido ^^ You have lived in Hokkaido, when you were living in Japan, right?
